Monster Project
ARTS 332 Vector Illustration
The monster project gave us creative freedom to design and illustrate a monster of our own imagining. The intent behind this project is that the monster would be the main character of a children's book. My monster is a twist off the old song character the One-eyed, one-horned, flying purple people eater.
The name of my monster is Hank. He is an elderly fellow and one of the last of the purple people eater clan. It is a common misconception that the purple people eaters eat people, rather they eat people food (like cookies!). Hank has horrible long claws, which he uses to daintily hold teacups. Hank also has a terrifying sharp horn that towers over his head, but he never uses it for anything scary. Hank also has one great yellow eye, but there is so much affection for his friends found when you gaze into it that if you really think about it, Hank is not scary looking at all.
Hank lives in a cave just outside the suburbs, and all the families and animals know who he is and are friends with him. Hank has lived in that same cave for almost a hundred years! He wouldn’t trade his home for the world though, because it holds so many memories of tea parties and deep chats with his house guests. He also has a surplus of lace doilies on every surface in the house. Hank is well beloved and known throughout the suburbs for his kindness and hospitality. It brings Hank the utmost amount of joy to bring a smile to a friend’s face and bake cookies for the neighbors. Hank is friends with everyone, but he holds an extra special place in his life and heart for his one-eared cat named Shoe who never leaves his side.
